Meet the Dana Point Chapter!

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our newest Climate Solutions Society chapter at Dana Hills High School!

Andre Redjai will be leading the leading the chapter. Additionally, Andre will be working on developing a solution for oceanic water quality real-time measurement and reporting.

Being in Dana Point and on the ocean, water quality is of high importance for multiple reasons. Pollutants enter southern california oceans in a number of ways, including through runoff (urban, agricultural, and storm), the discharge of treated wastewater, and via shipping accidents (e.g. oil spills which happened in Huntington Beach with devastating effects just a couple of years ago), and surges of bacteria from yearly California wet seasons.

By the time many of these leaks are discovered, they can create significant damage to wildlife and the ecosystem including humans because of seafood consumption and/or recreational water activities, which is a cornerstone to Dana culture.

Andre is developing a water based sensor network that can be deployed at high risk locations (around sewage entries, oil rigs…) to sense various pollutants and report them in real-time.
