Laguna Beach CSS Projects

Tyler Tafreshi leads the Laguna Beach High School chapter of CSS. The city of Laguna Beach has 2 major environmental challenges: wildfires and landslides. Tyler is trying to take advantage of CSS to make a difference about both of them.

CSS has partnered with the Laguna Beach Fire Department to test and evaluate the SensoryAI wildfire platform. Tyler has created a volunteer program through his CSS chapter at his high school for students to come and help with testing and deployment of the platform. The following article talks about a recent test that was conducted by the Laguna Beach High School CSS chapter:

For landslides, Tyler is working on a new solution leveraging the CSS network but using new sensors and new software measuring various elements in the soil that can predict and hopefully help prevent devastating damage due to landslides that have happened in the past. The sensors can be deployed at high risk landslide locations (that are generally well known) with the potential for preventing significant financial and even human loss.
