Ryan’s project was one of just 10 honorees in the U.S., with a total of 101 total grant being awarded worldwide.
Each year, the Global Youth Action Fund, a partnership between International Baccalaureate and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), presents grants to students around the globe whose projects support one or more of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Ryan’s was one of only 10 selected from the United States to receive a $3,000 grant, social entrepreneurship mentorship from the UN SDSN and introductions to global leaders; a total of 101 grants were awarded worldwide.
Ryan is especially grateful to Ms. Alma Di Giorgio, head of the IB program at Newport Harbor High School for her support and recommendation letter.
“Ryan is brave and open to being teachable. It’s a joy to work with him on his presentations and videos and be able to guide him on his passion and commitment to protecting and preserving the environment,” Ms. Di Giorgio in an article published by the Newport-Mesa Unified School District.
